Come Participate in the Quarterly District Conference - Tuesday September 3rd

Come participate in the Button Gwinnett District Conference!
The Quarterly District Conference will be held at the Simsonwood UMC Family Life Building Tuesday, September 3rd starting at 7:30 PM and will last until 9:00 PM.
This quarter, the Advancement, Finance, and Activities Committees will be holding breakout sessions.
            • Advancement - Each pack and troop is being asked to have one representative in attendance for the breakout.
            • Finance - FOS presenters should attend and unit leaders who help to coordinate their pack or troop FOS campaigns are welcome
            • Activities - Webelos Woods and District Banquet planning/preparations

We are asking each Pack and Troop provide a representative to attend. We will be breaking out the Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders to focus on different topics:
  • Boy Scout Breakout
    - We will be distributing BSA ID cards for each unit's Merit Badge Counselors to one troop representative
    - Greg Thurlow - The District Life to Eagle Chair will be providing an overview of the Life to Eagle process for the Button Gwinnett District, including project proposals and preparing for board of review.
    - 2013 Changes to Merit Badge Requirements will be presented
    - A number of merit badges have been added for 2013 and will be presented
  • Cub Scout Breakout
    - District Executive George Snipes will be providing an update on Internet Advancement as the Council is planning to stop accepting paper advancement reports soon. Come hear George discuss the timeline, the plans and options for Pack Advancement Chairs 
Lisa Rood, Family Friends of Scouting Chairperson, will be holding a planning meeting to discuss the 2014 Friends of Scouting Campaign. The group will be laying out the plans and preparations for unit presentations. Individuals serving as presenters should plan to attend and anyone interested in knowing more about the Friends of Scouting campaign is welcome to participate.
David Penton, the Activities Chair will be holding a breakout session to finalize plans for Webelos Woods as well as the initial planing for the District Banquet - Individuals assisting these activities should plan to attend. Anyone interested in knowing more about these activities are welcome to participate.
