What is JOTA?
The Jamboree on the Air, or JOTA, is an annual Scouting event that uses amateur radio to link Scouts around the world, around the nation, and in your own community. Held on the third full weekend of October each year, this worldwide jamboree requires no travel, other than to a nearby amateur radio ham shack.
Visit JOTA’s webpage, www.scouting.org/jota, and JOTI’s webpage, www.scouting.org/joti, for how to participate, download participation certificates, order this year’s patches, and MUCH MORE!

Flag Services Needed

Posted on Aug 15 2013 - 11:45am

On Saturday, September 15th there will be a large Mexican Independence Day Festival right in our backyard! The organizers are looking for 4-8 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts or Venturing Scouts to help with the Closing Flag Ceremonies. The event will be held at Plaza Fiesta (4166 Buford Hwy, Atlanta, GA 30345) right near the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport. The Scouts will need to arrive at 4:30pm to rehearse and they should be finished in about an hour. Snacks and drinks will be provided. This event is a great opportunity to promote Scouting. Last year the event drew over 3,000 people from across Atlanta. If you are interested, the contact is a fellow Scouter Henry Molinet 404-661-8887.

From the District Chair - Warm Up Act

Posted on Jul 19 2013 - 1:49am

Button Gwinnett Scouters! I hope all of you are having a fantastic summer so far! After several weeks of very mild and wet weather, it seems that the weather is starting to warm up.

In addition to the weather starting to finally warm up, we are warming up for another school and Scouting year. Can you believe that we are already in the back half of July? I can't either! In just a few weeks our sons and daughters will be going back to school and our schedules will be in full gear.

One of our key warm up acts is recruiting. I've been home this week instead of my normal hectic business travel schedule and it allowed me to take in some of the various activities going on.
